Fire! [Series, Day 8]

End of the week, and a long holiday upon us, so this will carry us through the weekend.

Time is the fire in which we burn.
Gene Roddenberry

Fire! [Series, Day 7]

Today I am going with B&W with an ambrotype treatment to convey the heat intensity from the fire.

Courage is fire, and bullying is smoke.
Benjamin Disraeli

Fire! [Series, Day 6]

Same composition as yesterday, only this time the aperture was opened longer to reveal more detail.

There may be a great fire in our hearts, yet no one ever comes to warm himself at it,

and the passers-by see only a wisp of smoke.
Vincent Van Gogh

Fire! [Series, Day 5]

Based on feedback from fellow photographer and fans I opted to continue this series in B&W. What part of this do you love the most? The stark or the etheric?

The mind is not a vessel to be filled but a fire to be kindled.
Plutarch

Fire! [Series, Day 4]

Yes, I was offline for a couple of days over the weekend. Getting the raised-bed garden going again and building a new greenhouse for some of the plants took a bit longer than anticipated. All good, really!

Back to the series. Today I submit two versions of the same photo, one original and one B&W. You decide which rendition you like better and leave a comment!

Fire! [Series, Day 2]

The naked eye can see the little glowing sparks as they wend upwards to the heavens. The camera captures the dance!

A quote from Bruce Lee:

“Love is like a friendship caught on fire. In the beginning a flame, very pretty, often hot and fierce, but still only light and flickering. As love grows older, our hearts mature and our love becomes as coals, deep-burning and unquenchable.”

Enjoy, my friends!

Fire!

I’m starting a new series of posts that exhibits a photo project I worked on earlier this year. The project is aptly titled, “Fire!” and represents a very late night shoot of a planned wood slash / debris burn.

These are raw captures and not edited in any way (yet).

Hope you enjoy the series! If you do, please share on Facebook or other social media. Thanks!
